Hey y'all
« on: April 02, 2015, 08:48:00 AM »
New guy here down in the smokies of NC.  Have posted a little bit but mostly been reading everything I can on this forum.  I am a recovering rifle hunter and I was on the fence about trad vs compound.  This forum made that decision easy.  I have learned so much already and look forward to taking the recurve into the deer hills this fall.

Amen!  I am about 5 miles west of lake glenville. I transplanted from Lancaster, PA after hiking a three month stretch on the Appalachian Trail. Do you hunt the mountains? All the locals seem to head south.  I am seeing more deer and turkey than ever this year.  Mast crop was ridiculous.  There's so many acorns the squirrels and deer have not even made a dent.

Welcome from central NY.  :wavey:   I lurked, and read threads for hours at a time before I joined, and I don't think I hardly scratched the surface of what's available here. Tons of great info, and the people here are second to none. Enjoy.   :campfire:

The people swayed me to dive in. I enjoy the spirit of traditional archery too.  My father always taught me that it wasnt about trophies or kills.  It's all about enjoying the challenge and respect for the quarry.  Feels good to get rid of the clutter and just focus on being a better hunter.

When I got into Trad Archery many years ago it was just another way to hunt deer... Never did I think it would become a major part of my life... Building arrows, stump shooting, 3D shoots, get-togethers, oh yea! Forgot, hunting!

This is just the begining Barry... If you learn things right from the start, what a blast you are gonna have.

Welcome from Georgia. This is a great site, and you will continue to learn a lot from it. Also, you will get to know some really great folks as well.
