Looking for a 1 pc, Longbow. Must be cut close to center. R/D preferable. How do these bows stack up to each other ? Who makes Whippenstick? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

 Thanks Dano

Ken Rholloff, not sure on spelling, he has a website, awesome bows. He lives about 30minutes from me, he is a great bowyer, his bows are superb performers, do a search on here and the wall. I have the onepiece Phoenix, and 3piece firehawk.

My friends wife has his 1pc longbow, we shoot together 4-5 times a week, and just about everytime i have to fling a dozen or so arrows thru her bow, because it used to be all i shot was longbows, now i am into recurves. I will say her bow is fast, dead in the hand, and about the quietist bow i have ever shot.

Close David - Ken Rohloff.   :D

He's not making any more custom bow orders once the current orders are filled, but he will be making "Stock" bows.

I'd love to pick up the 'right' LH Phoenix some day.

I have a slammer, acx 1 piece, and a 65" whippenstick lb on the rack currently. I shoot the ws the most. The finish on the ws is light years ahead of the other 2. No unfilled pores in the wood on the ws. I can't say the same for the ls or the A&H. The ws is the cheaper bow and it is cosmetically perfect. For the $ the other two should be and are not. It drives me nuts that these high dollar bows have unfilled pores In the riser. There are a lot of custom bowyers that ship out bows with this.

Whippenstick or Leon Stewart for sure.  Both superb.  Ken at WS is a super guy and so is Leon.  Both are world class craftsmen.  Ken's work is possibly the best finish work I've seen and he does it all by hand.  Leon's bows are a benchmark too.  Kens wait time is a little less.  A&H are good bows but WS and Stewart are true top shelf customs with very personalized service.

I have yet to find a long bow that I can shoot better than a Stewart Slammer.  Just love the way they fit me and hit what I am looking at.

Well, I'm looking more for a 3d type bow. A little longer, little less #s. Watching Jimmy Blackman on his you tube videos , I've picked up an inch of draw length. Wanted something I can really dial in on the target with. Need a stable ,  fast casting platform. There are some Slammers in the classifieds, but I've never seen a Whippenstick. Gathering info for options. Trying to get the Best bang for my buck.

You might also want to consider a "Big River".  It is one of the smoothest longbows I have shot and Johns prices are way reasonable for the quality of craftsmanship you get.  I have a 66" 43# @28.

You honestly would be thrilled with that 68" 45@28 Slammer in the classifieds.  Its listed dirt cheap too.

Lewis. I meant in the classifieds. I've only seen your WS once , up close and personal. I've seen the results of you shooting Lights out with it.(like the Texas Longbow). When you won 1st in the Senior Div. I've had a 64" bow one time and the way I was shooting at the time, when drawing , the string kept hitting my side ( didn't like that ). I'm shooting more straight up now and might be able to handle a 64". Not too sure about a 66"er. Was Really looking @ the 64" 48#@28. But alas, it is gone. By the way, 9, I grew up the 1st. 8 years of my life in FLA. Tampa, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville. Near the OLD airport. Went to Oceanway Manor Elem. school.

In the Texas Longbow , you Must shoot a 1pc. Long bow. Wooden arrows, 50 targets. Your score is flighted and you shoot again, on Sun. With people who are close to your score. 2 score keepers , 2 pullers. This tournament is the reason I'm looking for a different 1pc. The A@H is too twitchy for 4-5 sec hold. Will be put up for sale after something else is acquired. So.. I'm leaving for Vanderpool Texas in just a few  min. To see what manner of bows for sale down there. And to shoot of course. Some good bowyers will be there, Foley, Palmer, Sarrels etc. Plus a lot of used bow sellers. Try some different bows, leave my options open.   :archer:

By your signature, it appears you are kinda partial to 3pc bows, like me. I gave up shooting the open class at the longbow shoot (mostly because I hate those darn wood arrows) and just shoot selfbow or composite now (I have bamboo arrows for those bows. Bamboo is grass and not wood   ;)    ;)    ;)     ).

I don't think either will be able to stand next to your Morrison Shawnee, if it has the foam carbon limbs, but either bow will make you happy.
