how do you organize your supplies?
« on: April 12, 2015, 09:09:00 AM »
Ok, so I came across a large lot of arrow building supplies (as if i need more) and I need a way to store everything! How do you store all your stuff? My table and shelves are a nightmare and now I've got 22 gallon bags of feathers (ridiculous) to stow away and tons of arrow shafts and finished arrows to get "unpiled." Pictures and ideas are greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Matt

Well, you could send some to me to "store", and I bet there are dozens of others who would volunteer to help "store" some of that stuff !

Problem solved !    :bigsmyl:

My wife bought a cheaper plastic "chest of drawers" on wheels.  It is maybe 12" wide and as deep, and about 4' or a bit more high.  Many different depth drawers.  It didn't work for her project, but it sure holds much of my fletching and arrow making supplies.  I hang shafts in PVC tubing screwed horizontally onto the ceiling joists of my basement shop.

My arrows are in the boxes they came in. They stack up nicely on top of the row of cabinets thst hang on the wall of my shop.

I like the shoe boxes that the lids are attached on one side.  The lids are attached so they just fold over.  They fit perfectly in the cabinets in my workshop.

My guess is you don't need another house, just a workshop!

Points nocks inserts glues hot melt judos anything smaller goes into seperate plastic drawers units which are stackleable ,buy at wally world or hobby shops.

Free standing book shelf type furniture can also be bought for cheap at fleet stores or home improvement stores which can hold and organize containers and drawer units

I bet for under a couple hundred bucks you would be set.

Arrows and shafts can be stood up in crock pots or even boxes

8' of wall space and your all set.

A great big rectangular hard plastic container with a lid from a discount store works for me. Fits good on a wide shelf too.

Just throw it all in like kids do their toys.   Feathers in gallon freezer bags, strings in quart bags, and my tabs and baby powder for the tabs in separate bags.  The bags stack up on each other and I don't have to be so neat that way, and everything is contained. Sorta like my sock drawer.

Gordon you hit the nail on the head!    :biglaugh:
That's what I'm working with too but did a little moving around today and got some stuff consolidated. I think the biggest problem is an eclectic choice of hobbies mixed in one small space!  I need one of those professional organizers...and a therapist

Arrows and shafts in half dozen 5gal buckets with cardboard tubes as seperaters.

Feathers, choppers, sharpeners, bow strings, in  desk drawers. Another drawer for assorted junk and a broadhead box. The short drawer right under the work area has a drawer organizer with taper tools, needle nose pliers, glue/fletch tape, nocks, points, and blunts.

I have two wall mounted racks for horizontal bow storage. Arrows in need of repair take up two of the spaces.

The fletching jig is on a shelf and everything else is in various size totes.

When we bought the house I declared one room in the basement as "The Bow Room". Best thing I ever did. You have to have a place for all the stuff we need. Fletching on the dining room table doesn't work.

^^^. That's not true, I've had a pile of bows and bow stuff on our dining room table for at least a year.  I only get threatened with my life about once a week now.  It used to be daily, I must be wearing her.down!
