Ladies and Gentlemen,
After a layoff of 15 years, am getting back into bow hunting; using a selfbow for the first time.
I understand about moisture content in the wood and am wondering if this will cause problems with the bow when hunting in the cooler temperatures of +10 to -35 degrees below 0(F)?  Will the bow become "brittle" and easily snap when taken to full draw, for instance?
Knowing there are a number of cool weather archers on this forum, respectfully request your advice.
Best Wishes,
WW

I've hunted with them down to -15 or so without any problems, any lower than that you'd have to ask someone else, but my gut says a well made selfbow would be ok......

Same here, I've not had any problems in sub-zero yet, and I've been shooting them for the past 15 years.

I know some guys that use self bows rabbit hunting in Nova Scotia in January and February and don't have any problems. They do feel like they gain some draw weight in cold weather though.

I hunted and shot in -10 F with no problems. Jawge

When hunting in cold weather I flex the bow more often than usual. I have never had any problems.

I have used osage selfbows down to -20 without any problems.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
