New "Tuff" stainless steel broadhead adaptors
« on: April 16, 2015, 08:08:00 PM »
Tuff-Adaptors made by TuffHead and Abowyer

Stainless steel in 150, 175 and 200 grains

The extended portion allows for a footing to bridge the gap where the adaptor screws down in the insert.  It also allows for 1/8 to 1/2 inch more draw to back of point.

I have been using a "prototype" like this that I made myself. It is bone proof.

I didn't see these on his site. I've been looking for a heavier adapter.

These adaptors while manufactured in volume they are basically custom made. They are made from 416 stainless steel and then heat treated to our specifications. TuffHead and Abowyer worked together on this project in the development  and testing.

A project like this can get pricy for development. Together we were able to share the mutiple drawing and machine set up cost and get reasonable volumes for a production run.

Larry and i both tested the adaptors independently and were thrilled with the test results. We are so confident in the product all Tuff-Adaptors come with a life time warranty against bending and damage.

The stainless steel "TuffAdaptors" are offered in the normal or standard screw in configuration in 75 ,100 and 125 grain.

The" Tuff Extended Adaptors "as shown in the original post come in 150, 175 and 200 grain.

The beauty of the ""Tuff Extended Adaptors is they can be used in connection with a footing to make a extremely strong  setup  addressing the famous weak spot of all arrows.

The extended adaptor can be used with all brands of glue on  broadheads  that use the AMO standard taper to add weight and FOC .A great way to easily vary FOC while experimenting .

The adaptors are packaged three per package and sell for $9.00 to $9.75 per package. The can be purchased at either web site.

That's a bargain considering all the upfront costs.

looks good guys. what diameter is the 1st shank? what arrows will they work with for the footing? this is the one problem with producing this style of adapter i'd say. too many different diameter arrows to have to cater for.

these are very similar to an idea adapter i came up with for my next set of buffalo arrows.

For carbon shafts that are about .295 OD and smaller, the single footing will butt up against the insert collar. Then the correct size double footing will slide over the first footing, the insert collar and continue over the extended portion of the adapter all the way up against the broadhead.

For the larger OD shafts like the CX 350 and GT Trad 7595 the single footing will slide nicely over the shaft, insert and adapter creating unmatched superior strength exactly where it is needed most.

The end of shaft and broadhead adapter is covered and strengthened by the double footing.
