My first custom
« on: April 16, 2015, 08:11:00 PM »
I got my first custom bow today.  I have 4 recurves with the newest being about 8 years older than I am.  I've been wanting to try a longbow so I figured that'd be the way to go for my first new bow.  Here it is:  Flatwoods Custom RD longbow, 64", 47#@28", Jatoba riser, walnut limbs with bamboo cores, walnut/bamboo riser accents.  I told the bowyer to build me a longbow around 46-49# and left the rest up to him.  I'd say he fixed me up right.

Thanks guys.  Britt, he's a pretty small operation in Georgia, named Billy Hudson.  I don't even think it's a full time job for him, but he does nice work.

That is a nice bow for sure. I really like the wood colors. I like the way he runs the lame through the riser.

Thanks again guys.  She shoots great.  Nice and smooth.  The only thing is there's a slight twang when I shoot it.  It has silencers , but it's still just a little louder than I want.  Any suggestions from you longbow guys?

Now that's a bow!!! About the twang, you might wanna play a little with brace height. Just a thought...
