Arrow the TV Show
« on: April 17, 2015, 10:56:00 PM »
Hi. I tried to see if this was already a topic but try searching for arrow on Trad Gang and see what you get!

anyway, has anyone seen this show? I saw the first 2 episodes, (not great), but what kind of bow is that? It looks like a horsebow of some sort, short recurve with a monster string.
He uses it as a hand to hand weapon too. Is it made of steel or some other metal? I know if I whacked someone with my bow a couple of times it wouldn't shoot too well anymore.

Wondering if anyone else saw this and had same thoughts.
and yes, fantasy makes anything work.

I've watched both seasons so far. He shoots like the Lars guy. I find it entertaining. First thing I noticed was the Zwickey broadheads. Can't be all bad.

Are those Zwicky? They look like they are made of stone. And big. Must be about 400 grain or more.
Maybe it's a flashback when he was on the island and making his own from flint. Have to look closer

Pretty accurate for a snap shooter! That's if he's really shooting.

My daughter is a big Arrow fan and we went to the Kansas City Comic Con where Steve Amel had a Q+A forum. Someone asked about his shooting on the set and he said that it's all CGI for safety reasons.
BTW, he's a pretty nice guy and owns a winery called Nocking Point.

I've watched since the beginning. Several different bows have been used since the first season, including a longbow.

Well surprised it didn't come up on Trad Gang before but I'm watching it. 2 seasons available on Netflix if  you're interested and have Netflix.
Love to be able to shoot like that.

For you guys wanting to emulate him, according to DC his draw weight is over 200#.  Just like Hawkeye.

I have to admit, being like Hawkeye has been a motivation in the past for me to improve.  I can pull 100# once or so, but 200# is pretty insane.  My special glasses to help me cope with stroke effects are a prescription version of the ones Hawkeye wears in The Avengers.

Yes, I'm a comic book geek.  It's something to do while bedridden.  And I've been that a lot of my life.
