Cheers all. Yep the first of almost anything is always the toughest. Next big hunt will be chamois and Tahr In May. should be some excitment.

Congrats to you sir! I just home from NZ today. It is a beautiful and rugged place! That country is definitely hard to navigate, and to get close enough to close the deal.

The meat looked fine, but I erred on the side of caution and brought it home for my dogs so that it wasn't wasted.

The color range goes from white, through red, and to black like the buck in the photo. The red ones in summer would be one of the prettiest deer you can see. Bright red with white as white spots and highlights. A trophy in their own right.
