Tabs for split shooters
« on: April 23, 2015, 01:09:00 PM »
What do you guys prefer as far as tabs for shooting split?  I have shot the BW tab and I think it has a really smooth release, but i didn't really like how larger the in palm piece was nor did I like hot the bottom portion was split.

I am looking at the cordovan leather split tab.

the fred eichler tab

and possibly the pack tab

any input on these?

Never tried those, but I do like the Bateman Cordovan tab, and the Alaskan Bowhunter tab ( couldn't find this one where I used to buy them). Also the Safari Tuff tab looks like it might work for me, but seems noticeably more expensive.

I love the BW Palm tab.  In cold weather you can wear gloves with them.  If you decide to get rid of any palm tabs, let me know.  I have a couple cordovan leather tabs I'd trade you if you want to try them.  One is a Cavalier Medium tab and one is a Three rivers large.  Both have been trimmed slightly.

You got to check out the E.W. Bateman tabs or the new Rod Jenkins Signature tab that is now available in split.

Eichler intentionally had his tab made very thin which some may like or hate. I have a Eichler but much prefer a Bateman. Pak tab got some bad reviews on a recent thread due to change in materials?

It personal preference but I just love the feel of the Bateman tab in Cordovan!  I am 6'1" with average + hands and I shoot a size small and would never go bigger than a medium.

My favorite tab is my Bateman cordovan tab,the one with the single finger hole.I also sometimes use my Cavalier Elite cordovan tab.I use them both, but tend to use my Bateman more.

Fred Eichler is my go to. Very versatile.

I have one hanging on every bow I own.

I use it shooting split, 3 under, and stringwalking.

And they are super durable. Haven't shot one out yet!

The top tab, the Cordovan, is a Bateman.  It uses an elastic band around the middle finger.  It is the tab I use and by far my favorite.  The others mentioned are all good, too.

I used to like the bateman tab but the last one I ordered was to thick and I couldn't shoot it with a darn. After trying multiple tabs I settled an the Angel Tab II.

Daniel, the Black Widow tab is a good tab. It comes with fenders that protect your fingers from rubbing the nock. I trim the fenders down which makes it easier to use for me.

Just for fun I tried the Rick ****** Deathadder.  Now don't want to use anything else.

i do not not like the BW tab.  I feel that it gives a great release.  But i do not like how large the piece in my palm is.

I did also try the bar-bee tab and it liked it, but i didn't like how he singed the sides(you obviously have to) because it stratches me on my face when i shoot it.

I have to agree on Bateman tab also. Cordovan or if you happen to run across a Seal skin one they used to make, they are fabulous. Otherwise another would be the Rick Bar-bee Death Adder. That is pricy but probably the best built one I've seen.

The best for me is the Fivics plain cordovan tab for about $27.  Fivics makes some fancy tabs with metal palm plates for more money that are not as good and the all cordovan tab. Fivics plain jane tab with a leather palm plate and cordovan tab is similar to a Black Widow in shape tab but better.  I use the BW tabs for backups tough.

Used to use the Wilson Black Widow tabs when they were cordovan long ago, but don't like the calf hair or black leather in them now.
