1st Trad Turkey Kill in Indiana
« on: April 25, 2015, 11:21:00 AM »
I finally got my 1st turkey with my recurve, 21lb,10-1/2in beard, 1in spurs, Equipment used was, 44lb Bear Super Kodiak, 2018 XX75 arrows, 175gr Simmons Shark Broadheads. This wasn't the dominate bird, this bird got "whipped" by another tom and he then came in to my setup to "whip" my jake decoy. I was using 2 hens and 1 jake Feather Flex brand decoys. A big congrats!!!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Nice work!  I've yet to put one down with a bow.

Great job..I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind. I took a turkey with a leafy suit a few years ago.. and like the leafy suit technique the most...but like the idea of the blind in certain scenarios...do you leave the window open that wide as in your photo ? And how far was your shot ? Thanks and again nice bird...

The blind is a Barronet brand that I got at Gander Mountain. It isn't a Double Bull but it did the job very well.
