Longer or Shorter: The next Kanati
« on: April 27, 2015, 01:15:00 PM »
Hello all, I am about caught up with orders and before I start taking them again I want to add another model. In the past (late 90's) I shot and built a lot of 56" bows that would pull smooth to 30", I still have the form and with a few tweaks I could have it ready to go. Or, I have had a lot of requests for a longer Kanati, like 60,62 & 64". I have a really small shop so I only have room for one more form.

What do you prefer? Longer or shorter?
The current Kanati is offered from 56 to 60"

Jason,

Not voting but I am super happy with my "stock" bow and it may have turned me into a longbow lover.

I'm on the fence with this one, I love the idea of a short longbow but not sure how well I'd shoot it

I think there would be more market for a longer design.  I have heard nothing but good things about your current models.

I have been shooting 58" and 60" longbows for hunting for a long time but recently I have been drawn back to my 64"-68" longbows...so I voted Longer!!!

Hunters that use tree stands will mostly choose a shorter bow... I love being on the ground and dig longer bows... A 62" Kanati would be just the ticket!

I have a rare 54" that shoots great with my short 26" draw so I voted short as well

When I first was introduced to trad bows, I bought into the short bow phenomenon that was currently the rave HARD, but now I am very content with my 62" bow whether its on the ground, up a tree or at a 3-d shoot.  I do see a need for a shorter bow in a ground blind but that's the exception not the rule in my book.

BTW, I have a 26" draw ON A GOOD DAY.

Having said all of this, a short Kanati is one sweet package!  Too each his own.
62" Super D, 47#s @ 25-1/2"
58" TS Mag, 53#s @ 26"
56" Bighorn, 46#s @ 26.5"

Two of my longbows are 64", but my 58" Kanati handles my 29" draw very well. If I can get that same smooth draw in a smaller package I'm all for it.
Todd Henck Longbow 68" 58#@28"
Dave Johnson Longbow 66" 60#@27"
Northern Mist Ramer 64" 50#@27"
Northern Mist Classic 68" 52#@28"
Shrew Hill #1 "Alpha" 67" 48#@28"

I sure was thankful to see the majority..thus far anyway..are hoping for the longer version.

..I think about getting a Kanati literally every day...

I'd like a 62-64"
Not cause I have a long draw.
Just because I like the string angle at my fingers of a longer bow.

Longer for me. I'm a tall guy and a short bow just feels out of perspective to me. 62" or 64".

Already voted, but I'm kinda with Zradix on this. I draw 27.5/28ish, and like the feel of a little longer limb, lower string angle… Gladly try a 60".

I have one of your 60" and it's the only one of that length that I shoot very well, but if you made a 64" I would be on board.

Well I voted shorter. Love my 60"ers we also have a 58" can't see how much different 56" would be. (Besides 2") 54" would be fun.
