Doug decided that he wanted to hit up Makua one last time before heading back to MT.

Stopped to glass and listen for goats on the ridge.

Nothing spotted so we headed on up. This time we climbed high, a little to high I think...

We spotted a few on the far side ridge, but it was way too steep.

Unfortunately I couldn't get Doug any stalking opportunities that day. We still had a great time in the field and Doug threw one last shaka before heading home.

Sorry, I knew you guys were hoping for pics of a goat bar-b-que, but it didn't happen in this trip. Hopefully we'll have a part two to this story next year!

Aloha from Hawaii!

You don't have anything to be sorry for, you and Stacy's hunts are always worth the read, even if it only ends up being for the scenery !

Thanks for sharing.

D&K are great company!  I had the privilege one year of them stopping by where I worked for an extended lunch as they did a trip cross country hauling horses for their boss in NY state (?).

I never enjoyed time shared with anyone as much as those two!  Great company...better people.  I'd say they and you and staci blend well and it was a great read.  Thanks!

Oh man I feel guilty for not seeing this earlier. Karen and I are very fortunate to have family in HI and been able to go over many times. Over the years we've made many good friends like Ryan, Staci, Jerry.... The Island Hospitality is legendary and with good reason, it is a pretty cool place.

This is the first trip in several years I've been able to get back into some of the high country again. I love the ocean but those mountains are always calling my name...

I got a few pics of Ryan too...

And the Gang after our hog hunt... Staci got very close on that boar by the way. Told her next time just grab it by the tail instead of trying to find a hole to shoot thru...    :D

Can't wait till next year Ryan, thank you very much for taking such good care of this old man.

Sounds like a great trip.... If either of y'all make it to Texas, look me up. We have great hog hunting without the beautiful view.

Thank you for the invite Ben. If you've ever on Oahu during goat season, be sure to let me know.

Mahalo for all the kind words.
