Back quiver makers, question

In the market for an inexspensive back quiver. The simple $60 one that you assemble from 3 Rivers is at the top of my list, but I'm wondering if there's anywhere else to look for a super simple back quiver? Most of the ones I find are in the $100 range and too ornate for my taste. I could build another one myself, but as I'm out of town for a month I'm trying to just treat myself for when I get home. The auction site is not turning any used ones up that are worthwhile, neither are the classifieds here. So, anyone have a line on someone (hopefully a sponsor) who builds simple, cheap, leather back quivers?

Go to the Tannehill shoot in McCalla in June, and you will find vendors with a lot of simple quivers, including leather, wool, and woven baskets. Less than $60.00 also.

Thanks all! And Sam, I had planned on being there withy Wesley Special but my mother got time off from work to come up and visit. I can't turn down a visit with her, she loves to see her grandkids! The timing is poor, but one day I won't be stationed so close so I have to take advantage of it now.

If you're looking at the Wyondotte Field Quiver kit the 3Rivers sells... I can't say anything bad about it at all!!!!!

I bought 2 kits from Wyondotte Traditional back around 2000 For my son Kevin & I. In 2004 I bought the small Kids Quiver for Tyler. All of the quiver have seen HARD use,and never failed to hold up!!!!! Mine, has actualy been re-laced twice... BUT,the leather is good as new!!! Just alittle more "broken in" LOL

Tyler's was "passed along" when my TradGang Brother Kenny (adkmountainken) had his Son born last Fall... (It didn't fit him anymore anyway!) Now, I owe Tyler a new quiver... He has his eye on the big Hill Style Quiver, from 3Rivers. Who knows... Maybe I'll get myself one too!!!!!

There's a HH quiver in the classifieds right now. $80 good deal on a nice quiver.

For the past 25 years I've been making my own.

I started with heavy paper rolled into a tube
held together with tape. I played with it until I ended up with a pattern. I eventually made a metal pattern with all the lacing holes punched.

It works really slick. I can usually cut, punch, and lace a quiver together during one Penguins hockey game.

I get my leather locally from an Amish harness shop and have around $25 in one, including laces. When my quiver starts looking rough I toss it and make a new one.

I've made a couple dozen quivers over the years, a few for myself and gave the others to family and friends. They're nothing special, just simple rover size back quivers that work great and really don't cost much at all.

If you do decide to make your own be sure to get nice plyable medium stiff leather. Too stiff and it will feel like a scuba tank, too flimsy and it won't hold its shape. You want it to form to your back so your arrows don't slide out when stooping over.

Thanks for the ideas! I do need to tap into a good leather source around me. That'd save me plenty of troubles down the road!

You might ought to give Terry at the Nocking Point a call on Monday. I got a good looking one from him for around the same price and it was already assembled. I can't say for sure what he has available, or what the prices are, but I can say that Terry is a great guy, and he will do whatever he can to make you a satisfied customer.
