I can taste the corned elk already. Sounds like a perfect way to spend September. Good luck Pete.

Congrats!

Word of advice..... pace yourself. Be sure and take a day off here and there to stay sharp. After 6 or 7 days for me it gets to be a grind and I tend to lose sight of the big picture.

A month chasing elk is a month well spent.  I'm jealous.  I hope it brings you much joy!

Oh Pete,   I did that in 2008 and it was fantastic!
I'm up for trying it again real soon.  Happy for you and a little envious!  Have fun and good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement guys.  Steve, had corned moose again on Sat while up steelhead fishing with one of my elk hunting buddies.  Rest assured corned elk will be on the menu if I'm successful.

Stickbow - I understand the "pace yourself" stuff.  My elk hunts have been 2-2 1/2 weeks long for a number of years now so I can take a day here or there to recharge - I'll be 66 this month and I realize I can't keep going full blast all the time.

Thanks Bill, NM has been on my bucket list for a number of years and it is finally going to happen.

I've only missed 2 elk seasons in 20 - one being last year so this is extra special.

Now the planning, walking, biking and shooting will begin in earnest.

Pete, I hope you have an epic trip(s).  I couldn't imagine a better way to "waste" a month.

What a dream September.  I hope you can share the adventures and experiences with us.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Good Lord Man!  You must be doing something right in life to get a whole month!
