I usually hunt the early MI turkey season, but a vacation to Hawaii with my wife, Marie, oldest son and his fiancé took place during that time. We had a great time on Maui!
Marie and I opted for the second longer season. We usually saw turkeys but couldn't get the toms to come to the call. Finally on May 19th things seemed to change. I called in 7 jakes and a big tom around 9:00 am. Shot him at 4 yards.
They continued to gobble all morning. I texted Marie she should hit the woods after she got off work. I had a meeting to attend at 5:30 and would see her after that. When I got home I found Marie sitting at the picnic table with a huge tom sitting on top next to her. She had called in a jake and two longbeards and shot one of the big boys. She was super pumped!
Did I mention how excited she was?
It was a great experience for us and another double up day with our PSRs.
