1969 Kodiak Hunter, looks like a great buy!

Could also be a 69 Kodiak Mag. Looks kinda shorter than a Kodiak Hunter.

It looks like it says 56" on the back there, that'd make it a Hunter not a Mag. I've never seen the specs written on the glass like that. Does it have Bear decals or a medallion on it?

You'd know if its a Bear By coin or decals.Markings on lower limb make me think its not

I'm not seeing the 56". If its 56" its not either Mag or Hunter. Hunter is 58" or 60" and Mag is 52". The writing is definitely not how a Bear is. Maybe Bear built it for Sears or some type of catalog store. More pics would help also. Something about the serial number doesn't look right for a Bear either.

Brian,

I have a few Sears Bear bows and they still write the specs on the side of the bow below the shelf...and they definitely still decal it on the limbs. I agree that this one doesn't have the typical markings of a bear from the one picture I can see at least.

Agree not a Bear or one made by Bear for a store. Still for that price you did well. 56" is a very interesting length. Have to let us know how it shoots.

I'd bet that the way the belly side of the shelf is shaped would be a strong indicator of manufacture.

Thats a great deal. Heck the case itself is probably worth what you payed for the whole thing altogether.

First thing I thought of when I saw the pic was Browning. I bet whoever sold it cleaned it up and intentionally or not removed decals that would help identify it.

If you post a bunch of photos of all 4 views of the riser, the limbs and the tips, somebody will know exactly what it is. My first thought was a Browning, but the wood isn't very Browning-like. Could be a Shakespeare or Ben Pearson , but the tips suggest Browning or Bear. Beautiful bow, and probably a nice shooter.

I agree with the tips looking Browning or Bear like.
I was thinking it could be a Herter's..but the serial # doesn't look like others I've seen.

I've been searching the web for a bow with that little up-turn at the base of the shelf on the belly side.
..haven't found anything like it.
..beginning to think it could have been customized.
