new member from New York saying hi
« on: May 27, 2015, 11:58:00 AM »
Hi folks

New member here to learn from the community. The name's Henry and I've been shooting Asian archery for 2+ years.

My method is based on a 400 year old Chinese archery manual written by the archer Gao Ying. It was difficult to fully comprehend a 400-year old period language, but after 2 years of trial and error, I am feeling more comfortable with it.

I shoot mostly in Brooklyn, so would love to meet other archers in the area, too.

Welcome Henry. Have seen your videos on you tube. I'm a fan of Asian also.   :archer:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I just watched a couple of your videos. One with you shooting at a zombie, and another just showing you shooting. Any  zombies you run into are in trouble.   :thumbsup:

I really like your bow. What weight is it, if you don't mind me asking?

Hey guys, thank you so much for the warm welcome!

Whitetail Addict: my bow is a 45# at 30inch [I draw 30 inch]. I also shot with a 50# for a little bit but accidentally destroyed it [light weight 360 grain arrows might had contributed to a crack on the limb].

Thanks Henry. I've been into traditional archery for a long time, but I've never shot an Asian style bow, or any bow with a thumb ring. That's something else I should try someday. Thanks again.

Hi Henry;

I'm another Asian traditionalist.  I build wood-glass Scythians, Warring States straight bamboo self bows and other similar things...
I'm a longtime member of the Asian traditional archery webite, as well.
