Toelke Pika
« on: May 28, 2015, 09:20:00 PM »
I'm not a "short bow" guy, I believe hybrid type longbows should be at least 60" leaning towards longer always before shorter.  My buddy recently picked up a 56" Toelke Pika, Dan and Jarrod's most recent design.   I'll admit I even tried to talk my buddy out of ordering the bow, telling him it's too short and will be critical.  Today I had the opportunity to shoot the bow.  Holy Cow!!!  What a fantastic little bow!  I found the bow to be very quick, quiet and forgiving.  My buddies bow is a TD model so I really appreciated the heavy mass weight the bolt system provided.  If anyone has been thinking about this bow, have at it!!!  I think you will be impressed.     :clapper:

Great job Dan and Jarrod!

You're not helping Tim!  I really want to get my hands on one, but I'm close to a 30" draw and I'm a little nervous about the little thing.

Tim, you forgot to mention you calling out a 40 yd head shot on the turkey target and nailing it!!!!!  Glad you like the bow.  I surely know the owner does and he shoots it damn well from what I saw.

I want to shoot the bow some more, run it through my chrono just for fun and see what arrows would work for it.   I was shooting 35/55 gold tips and the flight looked pretty darn good.  I draw 28" and it felt every bit as smooth as my 60" Lynx.   What's funny is I don't remember feeling any flex in the riser.  Usually you feel something.   This bow had the micarta riser giving it both strength and some heft in hand.  Just a pleasure to shoot and carry.  A very cool little bow.

I'm just glad the two piece on his in stock page isn't a couple pounds lighter, I'd have a real hard time resisting.

When I talked with Dan And Jared at the Libby shoot, they said the 56" Pika draw is comparable to their 62" Whip. It's a darn nice bow for sure.
Jeff, you want all of the Toelkes bows, who are you foolin! Lol.
I'm right there with you!

I got an email from Dan today about the Pika.  He said it wouldn't stack out to 30" but that the string angle was starting to get really steep.  Said he could make the grip about anyway you could want it, but we all knew that.

X3! I'm quite intrigued with this new bow. I've been wanting to try a Tolke for quite some time now, and this pika might just push me over the edge.

There have been a few in his inventory, but I just saw one listed that is a stunner. It is micarta and cocobolo with black glass and a matte finish. If I wasn't having one made, this one would be coming home to me.

TXAg, that bow is definitely a stunner to me. If it was a t/d, it may be coming home with me!!    :archer2:

I'm going to stick with the Chinook and keep trying to find a Lynx.
