Florida bow hunting course?
«

I just signed up for the online bow hunter education course and have been scheduled for the Florida field day the last Saturday of this month. The say I need to provide my own bow and arrows with field points. The problem is the only bow I own at this time is my Samick Sage 30# recurve. I'm shopping for a hunting bow and think I want a Bear 50# Montana? But I won't have it in time for the course. (My goal is to bowhunt feral hogs). Do you think they will let me go thru with my target bow? I'm guessing it will be mostly compound bows there anyway? Any feedback would be appreciated.

The ed. course shouldn't care what poundage you have since you're there to learn. You're only 5 lbs off hunting weight anyhow. Just increase your weight before you hunt.

Does Florida have a minimum legal weight for hunting? If so, they might require a bow of minimum legal draw weight. Otherwise, you should be o.k. Either way, you ought to contact them and ask.

I asked Steve Robbins who organizes a lot of those classes for FWC. His response, "He's welcome to use any bow he brings to the class."
