Need tips to remove scuffs on new bow

Last year I had a bow made for me. Earlier this Spring I rolled on a Shur Grip. In the process, which was a tight fit, it looks like my fingernails may have put some light marks in the finish. Nothing deep or bad but I'd like to get them out. Any good tips?

I would contact the bowyer as knowing what the finish is can be critical...and while you are at it ask what they think will work...I have learned to regard scuffs on new bows as a way to stop worrying about scuffing them

Good thought there.  When I got my boat, the dealer asked me if I wanted him to go ahead and scratch it now to get that "first mark" out of the way.

I know with gun stocks you can sometimes pull up dings with a wet rag and a hot iron on top of it but however this is a bow with glue laminations. So not sure if this would work. You might be able to Google something on the gun stock thing and it might give you an idea if it would work for a bow.

I would try 0000 steel wool and rub on tru-oil.  I've done this more than once and never had an issue with compatability with bowyer's finish...but talking to the bowyer first would be a good idea I suppose.  Then again, I'm the kind that does not ask for directions when I'm lost.

Someone on another site was "high" on Rejuvenate Floor Restorer from Home Depot.  I bought a bottle, but was not impressed at it removing scratches.

I put a bigger ding over the small one to hide it.
Works for me. Your going to get more any way.

You can get a piece of 2000 grit wet/dry auto sand paper and lightly sand with water ..Then use a tiny bit of auto swirl remover and the 2000 grit again.. When all done use a little auto wax and buff with a very clean cloth and rub a bit hard and should look good as new.. This will make it shine like gloss if that's what's your after...

Ok here's the skinny I got from the Bowyer. I'll share it in case anyone needs this nugget of knowledge.  Lightly buff with 0000 steel wool then wipe down with a little acetone.  Worked perfect! I was also told to wipe the inside of the Shur Grip with rubbing alcohol and it'll slip right on and the alcohol evaporates.

If it is a gloss finish, lightly buff with 0000 steel wool. Then polish with Meguiar's #26 yellow mirror glaze. You'll never know it was there.
