All my bows that I have built are full micarta risers.

Love the mass weight and the looks of all black risers.

I have a PLX with a full micarta riser coming in the next couple weeks. Excited  ;)

I'm also a big fan of the material for the same reasons...strength, weight, looks, feel, etc.  Yes, it has a "warmer" feel than steel.

You will see many of the bowyers insist on using it in their bow bolt takedown handles and ILF fittings, so that must say a lot about its attributes.

Have a 2-piece Whip.  Like the feel and look. I have always liked the sleek look of an all black riser - ie: 67-69 Super Kodiak.

I like the heft in them, especially on smaller riser bows. I have had several in both recurve and LB.

My Wing T-birds are great! The extra weight makes them very stable. I love them!

I have a heavyweight bob lee i love the extra mass the only negative i can think of is its a little cold in nov-dec with a micarta riser but a beavertail grip takes care of that.

I have a Whip Bow Bolt TD with Micarta riser...it's a very light bow.  The Micarta doesn't seem to add much heft at all but then the design of this bow is quite slim, not alot of mass to it.  I imagine a riser with a large profile (like a standard-size recurve) would be darned heavy if made of Micarta...and quite tough to boot.

I like dark tones in a bow and Micarta fills that bill very well.

Guess I really don't see a disadvantage to it.

i have a micarta super D. the limbs are made of some absolutely incredible juniper that have all 3 shades of red, orange and blonde in them. the grain looks as if its a flame. the contrast of the black riser and the juniper limbs is amazing! it adds just enough weight but still light enough that i could carry it all day and look down from time to time saying whoa, what a beautiful bow!! theres nothing i dont like about the riser.

I have a 2 PC Super D with Micarta riser. The draw backs for me are that I prefer an all wood, beautiful riser. Due to the slim design of the SD, I don't really notice any significant weight increase with the Micarta. A mostly black riser is attractive, but my choice, if I wanted a dark or black all wood riser, would be Macassar Ebony.

I have a 2 piece whip with micarta.  No doubt it is much heavier than a one piece with regular wood.  I am not sure if the majority of the weight comes from micarta or the bow bolt but I do know I like it and shooting a lighter one piece just does not please me anymore.

Hi Todd!  Still have the all Blacked Out Toelke Super D and loving this bow more everyday.  The all black linen micarta riser is solid as a rock and just bullet proof. She is smooth, unbelievably stable and fast.

That Super D is sweet meat CKR. I love the micarta for all the reasons that have been posted. Favorite riser material by far.  rat'

Best decision I made was to have my Fox Triple Crown made with half Micarta.  I personally like heavy riser bows so it works well for me.  Another benefit is it is stable and goes with about any wood or veneer so no limits.  My favorite has to be Micarta with Cocobolo.

Question though?  What is difference between Micarta and phenolic?     :dunno:

i dont think there is any difference between micarta and phenolic. i think there are 2 different types of micarta though...linen and paper.
