Sometimes the taxidermist will pull the teeth out so they are longer than they actually were in real life....as there is about 2/3 more tooth inside the jawbone. It is common in some of the mounts I have seen personally...if the taxidermist does not put in synthetic teeth or clean the originals well you can see the gum line marks slightly.
The taxidermist wants to go for WOW factor and some hunters want it this way to impress their friends.
I prefer them to be natural like when first killed....

The spotted one has the real teeth in. The other one is molded like the actual cutters, color and all.

They look good. If you are really unhappy with those tusks you can easily cut those teeth with a dremel tool and a little epoxy and paint and they'll look fine. If its an artificial jaws they're only plastic.

I recently took a hog in to have mounted and was told they can leave the real teeth in but they have a tendency to dry out, crack and fall out over time so they recommend replacing with synthetic. They had three different sizes available to match the originals. If the taxidermist didn't give you the option as to what size to use I would use another taxidermist next time. Good looking mounts though. My wife likes my other mounts but at first said the hog has to go in the garage. I now have her talked into letting me keep it in the basement.

Synthetic teeth would not bother me as long as they are the original length...not pulled out. Don't care much for the wart hog look.

Two people on here named Pat that kill a bunch of hogs, one from Texas and of course one from Oklahoma. I envy you guys, got pigs here on Guam but not as big as there and a lot harder to hunt here in the thick jungle. Normally can set up on a mango tree dropping fruit but with the last storm the mango crop was destroyed, so gonna be a while before I can get after them again.

They look good! As has been said, probably 90% or more of hog mounts are done with synthetic mouths and teeth. They all pretty much look the same anymore in that regard.

Those look great pat. And I really dig the colors. I agree about the mysterious growth of tusks while at the taxidermists shop. I told Milann that was gonna happen when she got her hog mount done so we just had the guy do a closed mouth mount. Seems to look more natural I think.
