Probably not the type of answer you were expecting, but I'm getting a pneumonia vaccination this fall.

I missed out on a lot of hunting over the past couple years because I was sick, and I'm not going to again this year if I can help it. Pneumonia is nasty stuff.

J Williams that's exactly what I'm doing. My new hunters seat leans against them and gives me great cover.

I'm not going to care as much.

I will go out and enjoy my time and put less pressure on myself to kill something.

1. Scout! Got caught up with work and really didn't get to scout last yr, my success showed it too! Just really went on areas and scouted as I hunted.

2 Spend more time in the kayak, stay out a night or three --

3. Take more time off work, fire station is clicking and my Captains can handle it. Just as long as the Hurricanes stay off I am good
Always be stubborn.

Stop being so particular! Took pictures and even a video of a nice buck all under me, ended my season eating buck tag stew. We get one buck tag and I always worry that if I shoot one them ole big ones will come out of hiding and torment me!

Hunt from the ground more and let my 7 year old daughter sit with me on a couple early season hunts.

I'll hunt IL for the first time...I've been turning down invitations since 2005.

Here at home I'm going to venture into a very thick, 20-year hardwood cut, that I've been hunting the fringes of for about 10 years. The big ones don't seem to come out so I'm going in after them.

I'm going to let the compound hang in the garage this year and hunt exclusively with my new r/d longbow.

Hunt out of my pirogue more.  I'll be moving to an area with a lot of spots that will be only accessible by boat so maybe I can get away from the crowd.

Going back to my climber, hunting from the ground has been a nightmare. Gave it two seasons with only missed shot opportunities. Busted every time and a gillie suit didn't help at all. For the guys that are successful on the ground, come to the Mississippi delta and hunt "smart" deer.

I'm forgoing my expensive custom bows for a beat up 66 Bear Kodiak I got dirt cheap on the auction site.  Its a great shooter and has improved my accuracy to the point I may be selling some bows I expected to keep.

It is July and I have no large bucks located.  If I do not find one or two to concentrate on, I am destined to shoot a deer while I am still hunting/pheasant hunting. Warning, my pheasant arrows have four blade Herters broadheads and are deer ready.  Still hunting in the middle of the day for pheasants in brushy bottom areas during the rut is one of the best ways to run into large roving bucks.

For some strange reason Mississippi law makers think squirrel hunters need 6 months to do their thing so bow hunters have zero days in the lower zone to hunt without gun blasts. That said I'm gonna head to the piney woods during early season to try to lose the yelping dogs and the high power 6 shot.

Well... I've got a new bow!!!   :bigsmyl:

I finally got the Bear Kodiak T/D I've always wanted. Also picked up a Bear Montana longbow for Tyler. Tyler's been making cedar arrows, so we're both switching from our old "Autumn Orange" aluminums. Still tipping them with old Bear Razorheads though.....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

I need to go to bed sooner, so I can get some sleep before I go hunting in the mornings.  Late night tv and a telescope keep my hours backwards. I have shot a lot more deer between 8 and 10 in the morning than I ever did a half hour before or after sundown.  It would be better if I was not always looking for a place to take a nap when the deer come around, although some nice fall days a late morning nap in the woods seems better than shooting a deer.
