River cane arrows pic.
« on: July 11, 2015, 08:20:00 PM »

River cane arrows with trade points I made. Thought I would try posting a pic for the first time. Feathers are from turkeys I've taken and died with kool aid.

Awe man sorry guys. I thought I had it figured out. I copied and pasted the link from PB.  There's four links and I used the one for foums. Also must I have a title on each photo before I copy and paste link?

I'm not sure why it's not working. Copy and paste the link I thought. Anyone know if I'm supposed to add or delete anything in the link? Could it be the phone?

THOSE...those would be the only natural fiber arrows I'd ever consider shooting...

...but not if I had to go thru what I read is required to MAKE them suckas!   :knothead:

EZ for you to say and type...after the fact...

Bundling to dry, sanding nodes, straightening, spineing, finishing, on and on and on... nah.

    :saywhat:            :knothead:

Best thing I ever saw was a video clip a guy made shooting one of his cane arrows...get this, with a Lumi-nock in it!

That was hilarious...worked fine though! he was a joker and did it for giggles!

Doc Nock that's funny. There are endless possibilities when working with cane. They can be very plane and simple or as fancy as you can imagine. They are a lot of work but its amazing how you can get such a tough functional arrow from something growing in the wild. They really are comparable to carbon. Actually I wouldn't be afraid to say they're tougher than carbon. They're just naturally heavier than most other materials. They shoot quieter and softer though like wood though.

WKY,

Good on you!  I wouldn't know a river cane if it jumped up and bit me in the butt.

having said that, on a primitive site that is now gone due to owner health issues, I read about every type of natural fiber arrow shafting from rose to river cane and it's amazing what folks will do for shafts.

Way things are headed in our country, we may NEED to learn how to do some of this stuff if we want to shoot.  I'll be left sitting slack jawed and stupid!

Lol exactly. I already survive on game I harvest. It's a way of life for me. I haven't bought beef in a long time. It is good to know how to make something from nothing for sure. Just think of all the starving folks if things did get extreme!!

Love rivercane! Have cane from Oklahoma harvested over 20 yrs. ago, a gentleman sent me. Wish they grew here.

Those are hunting arrows for sure, Shane! Great job, and good shootin to ya!

Oh seen your birthdays a day after mine, a great month!
