Looking for a bow for a young man
«

I have a young man that is interested in getting into traditional archery. I'm having some difficulty. He's looking for a 40/45 # longbow or recurve. He has 200-300$ to spend. Any suggestions ?

Yep, go to a WI trad shoot there are always tons of used bows out there. Horicon was this weekend, lots of bows like that for sale.

Get him a good used bow, moderate length for his draw (should find one for $150 max) then get him some good arrows matched to the bow. If you max out on the bow and skimp on arrows he'll be disappointed. Look for a 58" to 62" Bear Grizzly, Tigercat or Kodiak Hunter in the Bear line or a Browning or Red Wing Hunter. A Howatt Hunter would be a great find too.
Perhaps some blemish carbon arrows from Big Jim to go with it- he can help you with sizing.
Good luck.
