Scary stuff.
« on: July 18, 2015, 04:13:00 AM »
Went out after some rabbits the other day . Was too many orchard rats that wanted to play. Forgot about the rabbits.
Was in this big old walnut orchard was nice and dark under the big trees. This is a good spot for calling. So I thought I would give it a try. Did some rabbit screams for a bit. then a greeting howl. Was answered right away ,but it was no coyote.
Was out about 150 yards I could barely see it , it was huge . Had a light brown coat and when it stood on its hind legs looked to be 8 feet tall. as tall as the young almond trees. @$%# Never in my life thought that they was real. And seeing one not in the sierras was really wild. It was making its way to me walking kinda like a big chimp but would stand on its back legs and raise its head like it was trying to smell where I was. At about 50 yards it seen me @T$* It started screaming at me and throwing rocks the size of foot ball at me. It pulled up a ten foot almond tree like it was nothing. It ran at me . At 30 yards my arrow left the bow . The arrow went dead center of its chest. It fell to the ground but got back up and reached for me but I had my Leatherman ready.  Was able to get a few stabs in its heart . It finally died. Went and got the land owner and his crane to left it in my truck. Fish and game had to look it over and some federal guys. The game warden was going to give me a ticket! because they are protected in California. But it was in self defense so he let me off but I cant keep it its going to the feds . But did get some pictures.

It with a couple of squirrels.

And the dragon that I talked to.

The stuff you find in an orchard, about two years ago I found a toy T Rex about two feet tall its stands to my left watching me type. Getting board can't wait for the coyotes to grow up.

If anyone could call one of those in, it'd be you!
For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

Not to diminish the fact that you have probably killed more coyotes than any archer who ever lived (many times over), what I can't figure out is that with that level of predation, how do you have rabbit populations sustainable enough to even hunt?

Mean looking creter! How did your underware hold up! LOL! Took one myself a few years back but my dog shredded. Was able to save one backstrap, tastes like really dry chicken.

I make up stories similar to that and tell my wife and daughter. They think I went off the deep end, glad someone else has experiences like me.

The bow is one of my Rainy day bows. They might of been spraying the orchards that day. Been seeing all kinds of pups this year.
