Jeffery Archery was my first job. I worked there all through highschool and into college and was fortunate enough to grow up hog hunting the Congaree swamp with Owen and his son Tom.

I am so thankful that I can honestly say I learned to bowhunt and shoot from a mentor like Owen Jeffery. He is truly a legend to our sport.

It is defiantly a great stop. Tom is still making a few bows but Owen is no longer able to unfortunately. He is however still up there everyday with a smile on his face greeting everyone!

They have an excellent shop with a really nice indoor range although primarily centering towards compounds these days.

Alot of archery history has come from those minds..

Bought my first bow from Mr. Owen.....a legend in archery for sure.  Used to enjoy him coming to our Traditional Shoots in Sumter when I lived there a few years in the early 90s.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately I don't think I can afford to charter a fishing trip at the moment. I MIGHT be going near Columbia to meet a half sister who lives in Georgia. So, I might be able to swing by the archery shop, that might be fun.

Owen Jefferey is the man! Brock pretty much nailed it. I have lived in Sumter and Charleston and I used to frequent Mr. Owen's shop often. Come visit Charleston. There are plenty of things to do. Definitely go catch some redfish!

Anyway, to answer your question I'd check out Bass Pro off Rt 17 or just try and borrow a fishing rod and throw some casts into the surf. Prob some good hog hunting inland but I haven't been

bluemelonchitlin -  Sounds like Ohio State's  General Sherman needs  another march to the sea, via SC...    :)

See? Somebody else from Ohio (Sherman) causing the South problems. We don't need anymore troublesome Yankees around here. Too many are putting their nose in our Confederate flag issues.
And I was only making an observation about past co-workers and an ex-boss from Ohio. All were extreme arrogant know-it-alls especially the ex-boss.

Ok, WTF guys?! You have to go to a special store to buy liquor? AND no alcohol sales on Sunday?! Cock blocked at every turn! I thought you guys got over the prohibition...

What else do you guys do when the heat and humidity keeps you stuck indoors?
