This cool! IMO...I think archery should be brought back into the schools Nation wide, here is why! You teach every kid how to focus and how to get that arrow on target, let them keep shooting, seeing that path of a arrow until they achieve on target consistency. Then, sit every kid down, and teach them how archery and the path of the arrow is like the path of their lives. If you lose focus? You could veer down the wrong path... The more you focus on your goals in life? The path is straighter and life is a little bit easier once you become the arrow!
I agree with you 100%.
I worked on the grounds crew of our local schools for a few years.
One day I had to go into a store room I hadn't been in yet, and it was full of archery tackle. Bows, arrows targets, the whole nine yards.
I know at one time, our school had a popular archery program, and I talked to everybody that would listen, and a bunch of people that wouldn't about re starting it.
I tried, and tried again to talk some sense into those people.
I started a petition, and had a whole lot of signatures on it, including some teachers, but the school board wouldn't even consider it.
You would have thought we were pushing for a machine gun class, with live ammo.
When things got to the point that we knew it was useless, I suggested that they package up everything a kid would need individually, and give them to the kids to take home and enjoy. no dice.
I suggested donating the equipment to the local library. They have a fishing program, where the kids can check out rods for the day. I thought with some safety instruction, that might be a possibility.
I spoke with the librarian, and offered to teach the kids the basic skills, and how to use a bow safely. She thought it would be great for the kids.
I went back to the school board, where I was told to let it go, or they'd let me go. I was so bent out of shape by the idiocy of it all that I quit.
As far as I know, it all still sits there unused.
