I sent off the check this am for my new thunderchild.  Should be here friday. I can not wait to get it.

pdk25,

it looks like yours has killed more than its fair share!   :)

What are the specs of yours?  and did you get on those hogs in OK?

Mine is a 56" 2-peice that is 50# @ 28", although it scales around 54# at my drawlength.  It has taken just under a ton of hogs.  The top picture was a hog killed in Texas. The others pics are from my place in Oklahoma.  I have been blessed to be in good situations, and the thunderchild performs much better than I deserve.

awesome!  There are a ton of hogs where we hunt, but they are super hard to get up on.  They are on public land where you can't bait and they tend to cover a lot of ground quickly.

I have killed a lot with a rimfire though.  If I had a little more success with the bow I would carry it, but these pigs are some kind of educated.

What is your draw length?
what spine arrows do you shoot out of it?

Drawlength is a little over 29".  I use 400 spine arrows.  Those hogs get educated quick.  Makes it very rewarding when it works out.

You're right.  You and I have the same draw length.  I don't know why but I always have to shoot a heavier spined arrow than the next guy.  I'm betting i'll have to use some .350's.  We will soon know.

I think if you were to try one, you would like it...and if it was the proper length for your draw, it would be as fast as a thing else you have shot. I have tested my bows on a shooting machine beside others considered to be fast and have found them to measure up.
Thanks, bigjim

Jim,
what is the proper length for a 29.5" draw?

For 29.5" you would be well suited shooting either a 56" or a 58" TC. You will get a touch more speed out the shorter and a bit smoother out of the longer...kinda how it works.

The standard of testing I have used is that of Blackies from TBHM where he tests with 9gpp at 28"

With a 50lb bow and 9gpp, I was averaging 185 fps.
I'm sure there are some faster, but not by much.

Yes 185 is up with the best. Remember everything is a trade off.

Hands down one of the top shorties available.  Quick enough, smooth, SO pointable and quiet.  They rock!  I had two of them for a spell and would gladly own a third.  The Big Guy builds em so nice.

I like my 56" TC with a 29.5" draw. Big Jim told me his preference was the 56" bow so that's the one I went with. It feels better in the hand than any other bow I've shot.. BW, Bama, Hoyt, etc. the shortness of this bow makes it super easy to shoot out of a climber. Good luck with your selection. The tiger myrtle and maple looks awesome with the brown beaver tail grip.
