Longbow: glove or tab?
« on: August 06, 2015, 07:29:00 PM »
I shoot recurves, but recently picked up a 68" longbow. I use a glove for my recurves and assumed I would for the longbow. However, I was wondering if any of you guys like the tab better for longbows?  I don't use a deep hook on my draw, so it might not work.

I don't want to mess with a good thing, but if it helps, I'm for it.

I try to keep things as consistent as possible so I shoot a glove for both curves and LB.

Simple cut leather tab for both here. I haven't found a glove that works as good as the tab for me, but I don't think there's a real difference between the two as long as it works for you.

I use a Howard Hill shooting glove and cut the stalls so my finger tips are exposed. I see alot of guys using tabs and it works great for them. Use whatever you feel gives you the best release and are comfertable with.

I have always shot a glove but wanted to shoot a tab for the cleaner release, problem was i could never find a tab that fit me well no matter how much i trimmed it. I ended up buying a $13 batemen 3 under tab and man thats the ticket, i suggest giving one a try.

I use both. Switch back and forth from an American Leathers kangaroo Crossover or Bateman Cordovan tab.

I have used both as well. I shoot split finger. Issues with my pointer  finger have caused me to favor the Kanagroo glove from American Leathers now.

Maybe my longbows don't care, but my fingers do. The American Leathers Kangaroo is the best that I have ever used.

I prefer a tab, but a glove will work just fine if you like it.

I have not tried everything that is out there but I like the Neet cow hide tab with a spacer the best of what I have tried. You can feel the string very well and the string slides of very smootly. That being said, when I shoot my 57lb longbow with thin Fast flight it gets a little uncomfortable and I will use my glove.
What gives me wings? Flying with my arrows over and over again. And never giving up...For giving up means not believing...
