Wondering how the hunting is there and fishing too. How mush public land is available to sportsman. Thinking about relocating there.

Eastern Kentucky has a lot of public lands too but not the greatest deer numbers.

I live in central KY. I don't hunt public land though. Lots of deer and liberal season bags.
If I had to relocate in KY it would be in the Bowling Green area.

I see where KY has an early season. Are there a lot of guys out then or do they wait until the weather cools down like here in NJ? Thinking of trying the early season next year in the eastern part of the state. Anybody from that part have any good recommendations for a particular parcel of public land to hunt? Any and all info greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Our deer season along with turkey season runs non stop from about the 2nd weekend of September to about the 3rd weekend of January. If you wanna shoot one in velvet you need to hunt September. But most of the time its still warm. I usually dont hit the woods till October when the weather cools.

I know a bunch of folks that hit the opening weekend but temps in the 90s aren't uncommon. I usually wait until it cools off significantly.
