Going home this weekend Maybe the deer will still be where I found them earlier. Can't wait for Bear hunting with the dogs in a couple weeks.

Reading thru this post makes me want to leave the Piedmont even more. We finally have a taste of cooler temps today and I've got NC mountain fever.

Anyone got a boat i could borrow?!

Did make use of the break in the rain, which was bad news for this gal...

Congrats to the guys that have taken deer, the rest of you hang in there, your time is coming. Archery season is pretty much over for me. Sunday night/Monday morning my wife had to take me to the ER with severe abdominal pains. The cat scan revealed kidney stones but also revealed a large mass in my left kidney. A MRI showed it appeared cancerous. I went back in on Tuesday and they removed the left kidney. The good news is that it was contained entirely in the left kidney, they did not have to remove the urethra and did not have to remove any of the bladder. For 4 weeks I can't be involved in any vigorous activity and can't lift more than 15lbs.

Great doe to start to the season, Dalton! I was up in Boone and Banner Elk , working, yesterday and wondering if you were out in that endless rain with a bow in your hand.

Phillip, you should be good to go late season. I wish our gun season was shorter and we had a winter bow season.

Congrats on the doe, Dalton.

Phillip,

Hate to hear that, but glad the prognosis is positive.

I, too, believe NC would do well with an additional archery season for the first week in Jan. Allow archers to hunt until the second Saturday after Jan 1.

Urban being the key word, Cory. You have to know someone and have land access. It would be good for it to be statewide.

Has anyone hunted the Green River gameland around polk or henderson county?  I was thinking of heading out there and still hunting/scouting through. I close my golf course in three weeks and have lots of free time to travel for hunting. The distribution maps shows 30 - 44 deer per square mile.  Thats double/triple the density I'm looking at now in jackson/macon county.
