Thinking of a new head for this coming seasons( except turkey)hunts. Bear, whitetails and maybe Moose this year are (hopefully) in the forecast.
I want a 2 blade head, 145-160 grs.
I want( read:NEED) an easy to sharpen and KEEP sharp head.
And it has to fly well and quiet.
Grizzly's are out; tried them last year and I CAN'T get them sharp enuff.
So, what do you use and why? and what do you recommend?
I tried Eclipse heads, I found they are too thick at the tip to allow my accusharp to touch them up. Nice head though.

I'm going to try Larry Hanify's Abowyer head this year. Matter of a fact in mid March at the Texas Sweet hunt. I shoot fairly light bows 50#'s and think its the way to go. After reading Dr Ashby's reports and how highly he reguards this head for penatration. It appears to be a easy to sharpen head will let you know more after giving them there due. You can check them out at www.abowyer.com. They are not cheap but then again what is? Nothing of quality.

Older Bear Green Razorheads, or Zwickey Blackdiamonds. What I've always had, used, and never had any complaints since I was old enough to hun, so I never changed.

I like the Simmons Tigersharks, flat file, and ceramic sticks. 2 blade bh with 1 9/16" cut that flies very well.....Mike

I have probably killed something with every older type there is but I graduated from Zwickey to Magnus I's and now wouldn't shooting anything but Ace 200's.

My true favorite would be a knapped piece of flint but it takes me forever to make an arrowhead good enough to hunt with. Next up is Zwickey 2 blades because they are simple, tough, and I like the hardness because it keeps an edge better.

You're talking about glue-ons, I take it? I would second Darke Greene's opinion on Zwickey's. The tempering on the blade is right on, they're easy to sharpen and keep sharp. Ribtek and Magnus are another brands I've had very good experiences with.

MODOCS!!!!!!!!!! and SNUFFERS...(note MODOCS had few problems , company was sold and seem to have worked out the ferruel problem...my 3rd choice is WW Wensel Woodsman...I have some now...

use adaptors on them for wood arras...opps sorry ya wanted 2 head...Eclipse wood be the others I have..excellent BH

Ribtek, They are incredibly tough and durable. They are easy to sharpen they have many different grain weights to choose from and the price is good.

200 grain ACE head, easy to sharpen and keep sharp.
Accusharp won't touch them up?? get yourself a good file!

I like the 160 grain Simmons treesharks. They fly good, and are 1 9/16" wide. The hole's they leave are incredible.

Single Blade....Zwickey and Magnus. Haven't seen the new Modocs or tried them. The older Modocs had a problem of the blade coming apart from the ferrule and were tough to sharpen because of the raised ferrule. I did like the 3:1 ratio of the Modocs but the older ones just didn't hold up.

My personal choice would be Zwickey, with Magnus close behind.

I use 160 gr. Simmons treesharks. Easy to sharpen,deadly accurate,tough and makes a good hole, The design helps catch arteries and slice them.

Eclipes,Zwickey and bear razerhead I've had good luck with all of these.I really like the Eclipse but they are a little hard to sharpen but when you get them sharp they stay that way. My 2 cents :D :D :D

Grizzlies have never impressed me. THere's no way you can convince me that big, dull point doesn't retard penetration.

Anyone have a recommendation for a screw in two blade? Probably going to need some new heads this year.
