How often to wax?
« on: September 04, 2015, 08:07:00 AM »
I notice a bit of fuzziness on my string after shooting everyday. I wax it every few days. How often do you guys wax? The string is less than a year old and made by Ten Ring. It is a great string, I just don't want to wax it for no need.

Let your string tell you when to wax it.  I would suggest that since you're having to wax so often, try to get a little tackier wax.  It obviously isn't staying there very long.

String makers wax(bees wax or some mixture of) would work great!

I wax whenever the string stops feeling slightly sticky and starts feeling dry. That seems to make the strings hold up very well.

IMO, it is your wax.  The best type to have would be a tacky wax that has some silicone in it.  The silicone will help water water resistance, and the  tacky wax will definitely help your fuzz problem.

I know that Chad(LBR) has some he sells for a couple a bucks and it is some GOOD STUFF!

Landon, I have good luck using Bohning Seal Tite wax. Fury is know for not fuzzing up like other materials, so it has to be the wax you are using.

I like Bohning Tex Tite. I average 30 to 50 arrows a day 6 days a week and I wax once a week. It does not get all over the limbs like some other wax I have tried after you wax the string.I rub it in with my thumb and index finger with as much fiction as posible and it just seems to seap into the string.
What gives me wings? Flying with my arrows over and over again. And never giving up...For giving up means not believing...
