Advice Request
« on: September 04, 2015, 02:00:00 PM »
Thinking about getting back into trad after a 10 year layoff.  Getting a little long in the tooth (63 years old) and have the itch for a one piece longbow.  When I shot before, I had both a Bob Lee recurve and longbow but both were take down models.  I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money going in so I'm looking for an economical but quality bow.  Any suggestions?   Thanks....

Some guys on this site are addicted to buying and selling and the 2nd in line is the benefactor.

I'd have to agree with Terry above, but you have to cough up a wee bit of change to get in on the classifieds now...but likely be worth it to get a fine, fine shooting stick!

Sometimes, the sponsor classifieds have good deals, too...

The classifieds.......I have bought 2 longbows in the last 6 weeks that are from top of the line bowyers, I paid $275 for each one and new they would have been over $600 each. A nick or a ding don't affect the performance one bit. Just to good of a deal to pass up.

Thanks for the replies.  But I was thinking along the lines of a Samick or Ragim as a starter.  I could get a complete set up with all I need to get started from Hunter's Friend for less than $350.  I'm just getting back into trad and don't want to spend a whole bunch initially.  Once I'm sure I can stick with it (got a quirky shoulder), then I would go with a better set up.
