Yesterday was opening day of the 2015 season for us Kentucky boys. It was hot, muggy, bugs everywhere...about downright miserable...but I've waited 8 months to get back in a tree..so I was going despite the conditions.
In between smacking at the flies and skeeters I did manage to see a few deer. One nice 8-point came in to 10 yards or so and tempted me...but he needed another year or so of growing to do so he got a free pass this time. Had several does and fawns wonder by throughout the evening..keeping it eventful...but one of the bigger ones decided to walk just a little to close.
She came in to about 13-14 yards...quartered herself away from me...just perfect! I picked a spot..came to anchor..and let the Magnus Stinger do its thing. The shot was on the money..and after 8-9 seconds of commotion the woods were still again.
Couldn't ask for a more perfect opening day..well I guess it could have been a little cooler and not so daggone hot! I used my same setup as last season..40# Bear Montana longbow..1816 shafts..and a 125 grain magnus stinger riding on the front end.
And its not the best picture..but it was late..and I was very warm and tired.
