as I sat here tonight with my 10 yr old son who is getting into to archery, albeit compound, nonetheless it's still a great pass time for him, we have been watching bow hunting shows upon his request. every single one has revolved around inches .. that's kind of hard to explain to my son, but I think he understands the jist of it. anyway, not one time on this site since I have been here has the topic of inches and scores come up. somebody shoots a doe or a spike and proudly post the pics. I love that about you guys. it is such a fresh breath of air for once. just good ol deer hunting the way it was meant to be.

Any animal taken, regardless of size or type is a trophy in my eyes. I believe most here would say the same.

Yeah, we're a bit different.  You will occasionally see a post with a big buck and sometimes somebody will list a score, but it'll usually just be kind of a side note and almost never the main focus.  And I have to post pictures from stump shooting because that's about all I can kill.  Been huntin almost full trad (with just a couple rifle hunts scattered around) for two years and still looking for my first kill.  But even without a kill, I've had hundreds of successful hunts.

you got that right.  I cringe on the shows when they say  "here comes a shooter".  I wonder where they hunt. How come so many deer are out in broad day light.  And why they always shoot the deer after the last commercial.

A great site with a bunch of whole hearted stick bow shooters! Any shot that hits the mark is a trophy for most and most misses are usually a good ribbing from a friend. It's great to hear that your son is enjoying archery embrace it and have fun.

I like to get a "big one" as much as the next guy, but that is not what I do it for. I get just as excited about a raghorn or doe. The challenge of what we do, and how we do it, makes it not necessary to bag the biggest critter in the woods to be totally successful!!!

Us trad guys talk inches all the time. Arrow lengths, draw lengths, brace heights....

I think its because of the challenge of hunting with trad equipment.  To me, I don't see enough deer to worry about shooting inches. my largest buck with trad equipment would have scored around 12". haha.  But it was one of the best trophies of my life.  Maybe some day I will get a chance at a giant, but my trophy wont be judged by his rack.

The only deer with a bow so far was made of foam.
But I have taken some trophy ground squirrels.

But what I really see in my mind's eye when I'm at full draw with a deer 10 yards away, that doesn't know I'm there...?

Yep, with most of our group, its more a bout fun than braggin' rights. However, if we do get a whole bunch of inches on a given hunt, we can spin a yarn as good as anybody else.
