I've had mine for about 7 years and love it. As some people mentioned above, I did experience some hand shock at first but took care of it by playing with the brace height.

Had a Montana, nice shooting bow with a soft deflex/reflex. Have a AuSable now, it is a awesome shooing bow with lot more deflex/reflex resulting in more energy and very smooth in hand.

You can always to the big trad shoots. Youll find one there and you could try it. Also try out as many longbows as you can. It will help you narrow your search and wont be out a lot of pocket by buying something you may not like.

I'm 57, have had shoulder problems, wrist problems, sore swollen fingers due to work, and I shoot a 60 lb Montana and absolutely love it!

I know you are looking for a longbow.  Send Terry $30 and become a member, and sign up for the classifieds.  There are some amazing bows on there for the price of a new Montana.  I have only shot one in a Cabelas to try a short chair. It shot fine with minimal hand shock. But I have bought some beautiful great shooting longbows for less on the classifieds. (I am currently not a member to keep myself off the classifieds, though I will rectify that this year. hopefully I can stay on Powwow).
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
