Great start to new season

Scored on a 7 point buck on the first day of WV archery season. After a rough previous season that I never killed a deer, the stars came together. Hanging a stand earlier this week I saw a few deer in the morning but not close enough. I was hunting on my property that belonged to my dad. After a lunch I was back in the evening with a hunch to take my climber and move farther around the hill on a nice oak flat. Picking out a likely looking tree and climbing it I made a huge discovery. There was one of my dad's hooks that he hung his backpack on. What an omen!
After about an hour here came a doe and 2 little ones. Pass for me. About 15 minutes here came my buck to about 20 yards with a light quartering shot . Taking the shot my wood arrow tipped with 160 grain VPA 3 blade hit where I was looking and zipped clear through. After about 150 yard dash the buck was mine. Kneeling and saying a small prayer of thanks to God and looking skyward to grin at dad my day was a great one. Sorry for no pic but I forgot my camera and was in a hurry to get my deer taken care of in this heat.

Nice work. It's funny how simple it seems when it all comes together, but when it it's not working, it can seem like an impossibility.

Congrats Don!!
I thought of my late Father yesterday as I hunted from a tree stand very near where he used to hunt from one. Great to have a hunting heritage!
Thanks for the story.
