Is it to late?!?
« on: September 28, 2015, 06:11:00 PM »
I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to hunt this year, partially because of work, the other part is I wasn't sure where my confidence level was going to be. Well as it all works out I will be able to take the first 4 days of the season off, sadly that starts on Thursday!!! I'm confident in my equipment and that I have it tuned to the best of my abilities, also that anything in 10 yards will be quickly harvested(I plan to stay within this range). I'll need to gone the edges of my zwickeys and my knife. My issue is my clothes!!! I plan to hand wash them in the morning and hang them in the woods. Will that be enough time to air out?!? They have been sitting in a plastic dresser with other things like long johns and other cold weather gear. My pants are old wool military surplus and I'll be using a flannel shirt that matches the area fairly well right now, if material matters.

Watch the wind and don't fret the clothing.  Do your best to get them low scent, then get out there and enjoy.

The clothes will be fine if you play the wind. You can try the scent blocker sprays, but im not totally sold on those. No matter what you do, theres gonna be "some" scent. If you hunt pines just go snap off some branches and put them in a trash bag with your clothes.

Every time I've had a deer bust me, it was because I went hunting.  Never been busted a single time when I stayed home.  So based on my experience, the only sure fire way to make sure they don't smell you is to stay home.  ;)  Plus you'll have lots more time to go shopping for steroid antibiotic hormone beef if you're not wasting time in the woods.

I don't even worry about how my clothes smell!!!! I do wash them from purchase with the scent/UV brighteners free detergent ONLY, but that's only for the UV brighteners free part, if they can smell your clothes they can smell you and it's you that scares them not the smell of your laundry soap!!! They can see very well in the UV spectrum and in low light you will look like you have a black light shining on you to them! In broad daylight, it's not as much of an issue. Stay concealed and go shoot something!

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!
