Checking SCDOT's website, my route shows some road closures. Hopefully thing will clear some by next Monday.

More than dodged a bullet, more like a mercy of God sort of situation. Look at the rainfall totals and it is the lowest amount recorded in the entire state of South Carolina.

Bud, I agree you NC boys probably want to do some route planning before you leave.

Thom,
Thanks for all of your help, information sharing, and good advice. It may take a while to get from NC to Andrew's this year, but it will sure be worth it.

I'll do my best to keep you posted on how things develop once I get there.

I am sure we will have some great stories to tell.

No butchering here.

I did see 6 hogs total. One the first evening and Thursday I got on five and bumped them for over an hour. I stayed with them and they spooked five times. I got within 20-25 yards each time. The final time a doe I didn't see blew and that set the swamp alive and the squirrels got jittery so the hogs vacated. When I bumped them, they'd go about 30 yards and back to rooting.

I saw 16 deer, two of which were trophy bucks. Th rut is on in Estill. I missed a deer on Friday. Shot was a smidge above center chest but it string jumped and dipped below the arrow.

There's a turkey infestation at Wild Things.

Strangest thing I saw was two copperheads either fighting or mating. They were behind my stand and were at it for about 30ish minutes, give or take. It was either a heck of a fight or one heck of a endurance session.

And of course Andrew is the finest host one could hope for. He is so accommodating to anything food and all things hogs.

I have a little intel, Thom. -

If you're headed down to Wild Things, I suggest you make some hog candy. That seemed to be the ticket. Find a hot spot and candy it up.

Thanks for the report Bud, I will call you sometime to talk about the trees you found for the climbers and that secret spot I told you about. I'm holding some high hopes for it in the long run.

Those copperheads would creep me out. I will never get used to seeing them slithering around.

You guys feel free to start a new thread if you like...I was just wanting to gather intel on who what when and IF with all that rain that was suppose to hit.

I have a lot of pics....and a few stories to tell....but ya'll start a new one if you wish.  I didn't mean for this one to be the 'official' thread or steal anyone's thunder.
