Does anyone have any experience with the Original Mountain Man Hooded Capote, Gray sold by Sportmans Guide? I am looking for an additional layer for cold times.

I haven't had one.
The reviews say it stinks...as in a strong odor.

The flared sleeves don't look great for archery.

For about the same price I'd rather buy an Asbell Wool blanket weight zipper jacket and a zippered Mackinaw.

Not with the Sportmans Guides, but I have used one made by James Townsend & Sons. It is a Whintey blanket capote in a shorter length. It is very warm but bulky. It would be rather hard to shoot traditional archery in but great for just staying warm.

I have a gray capote that adkmountainken gave me years ago... It's the cats nuts for primitive ML hunting, but it's not very "bow friendly".....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

I don't know anything about them, but I do know you won't be disappointed with Ron Laclair's heavyweight Longhunter shirt. You may need a size smaller than normal (Ron must think everybody's as big as Sasquatch!)

I made my own with a Whitney point blanket and a pattern from Crazy Crow. Easy to do, and very warm.
