Pigs and Bait

A buddy and I set up a feeder a week ago. Filled it with corn and oats feed that has a molasses coating on it. It smells wonderful!  THe feeder works well.

We also put some holes int the ground and packed them with corn and Coolaid

The problem is pigs are not  touching the stuff. Every time we go in to check the feeder  we see pigs within a couple hundred yards of the area, but no sign at the feeder or near it really.
1. Am I checking too frequently? scent, noise, etc?  We check every other day.
2. Does it just take a week for them to find piles of food?

( It is a bit off of the established/heavily traveled trail )

Any help or recommendation would be appreciated.

They will ignore feeders completely sometimes when there's acorns on the ground.

Sometimes it does take a while for them to find your bait. Especially if there is other food around like Terry said. I only check my baits/feeders when I think they are getting low. About once a month. I feed pretty heavily and keep them going 9 months out of the year.  Couple pointers.
1. Only check your baits when you have to or when your rebating.
2. When you do, wear rubber boots to help keep from leaving as much scent as possible
3. Get a trail cam! ( it does all the checking for you) and place it where you don't have to walk by your feeder to get to it.
4. I never walk by or near my feeder unless I have to. Especially when I'm going in to hunt.
5. Study the wind patterns and make sure you have a good approach.
You will still get busted by hogs a LOT! Best dang nose in the woods! Good luck!

I use corn scent from Bear Scents ltd. and I have also used a gel that comes in a gallon jug I bought at Bass Pro. I go crazy with a spray bottle the gel even goes through the spay nozzle. It usually takes about 2 days for the corn to start disappearing. The pasture I hunt in Texas does have a lot of hogs though.
