Too noisy and uncomfortable. I just bought a redhead dove seat with a back for $19. I like it.

I've done it.  It works, but there are better options available.  They certainly are cheap though !

I made this one from an old boat seat with a swivel on the bottom. By far my favorite blind chair. I was worried I wouldn't be able to lean back in it, but it's no problem. Works great!

If you are worried about noise-go to a sheet metal or HVAC outfit and buy some 1/8" Armaflex insulation and glue on to bucket-Hap

Mr. Lamb, I just sat it on top of the garbage can to keep it out of the dirt after I spray painted the bucket! Lol
I does look a little awkward now that you mention it!

This:

+ this:

makes a great seat! The green part of the "Tornado" seat is attached to the "lid" which sits on the bucket by a standard boat seat swivel. All you need is a large phillips head screwdriver and a few minutes to make the switch from the flat seat to the boat seat. I actually figured out a way to strap the seat part to my pack and just carry the bucket by it's handle.

I used to use one, and it worked well. I did not have the noise problems that was mentioned above, but I did oil it every once in a while during the off season to let the odor of the oil dissipate.

I have a few buckets on our camp land. I just take the handles off, drill and run nylon rope for the handle, paint them, and turn them upside down. I'll carry a FOAM seat pad with me, or sometimes store one in the upside-down bucket for next time. Works good enough for me.
