It wasn't the cleanest of shots, there was small limb and it may have deflected some but not sure. I did not see it in my plane of view at the shot but I did afterwards. But no excuse, if I had bent at the waist a little more i think it would have hit the mark.

Yup, you're hooked!

Mike is right, great attitude!  You keep after them.  I also missed my first deer I shot at only I can't blame it on bending at the waist as I was stalking the critter lol!  You'll get there and when you do it will be so sweet.  Congrats on a successful hunt.
Bless The Lord, O My Soul!

I think not pressuring yourself is the best way to get it done. My 2 best bucks were taken when I was just going to observe and just happened to have my bow...

I even hung a stand for a bud on the way to one of em...

Stay with it and just enjoy what nature offers you. Good luck brother.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Murphy's law can work overtime, especially when you are bow hunting.

If it helps, my first deer took me a good 20 years!  I lost count of the misses, missed opportunities, getting busted, out of range...that includes hunting with both types of bow, shotgun, rifle, and pistol.  Any and everything that could possibly go wrong did--including almost being run over by a nice buck while hunting on the ground and several very close encounters where I was close enough to kill the deer with a spear...and it got away clean.

Enjoy the rush...once you make a good shot, the work starts.  Down side is you got to kill them before you can eat them...

it took me 5 years to kill one with a compound. but then it became quite regular. so I'm ok to just let it happen...
