Question for Thunderstick Mag shooters
« on: October 08, 2015, 11:12:00 AM »
Looking at trading for a 56" mag....my drawlength is 29, will this bow draw smooth to this length  ? I've tried to find a website for these bows to get more info but haven't had any luck. You guys have any input  ?

I can't say for a 56", but i think you'd be pushing it a bit. I had one at 60" that was smooth at 29".

Nathan, send Jim an email, he is good about getting back to you. I think you will be close with that length...

I have a 56" that is marked 53@28" I draw about 28.5" and it works for me. It certainly isn't the smoothest bow I own and string angle is about as tight as I would like to tolerate. I got my bow straight from Jim. When ordering I told him I was interested in the mag because I like shorter bow for hunting. He told me the 56" mag would do fine at 28.5" and some guys go even farther with it. Just depends what you like.

I'm no help, I have a 58" and draw only 26".

I have had people with longer draws shoot my bow and it seems to me you would be borderline.  Much better at 58".  Like someone else said, send Jim an e-mail, he always has answered mine.

I have a 58", and draw 28". Smooth as silk and forgiving. Never shot a 56". I tend to like a little extra room in the length, and guess I'd be OK with a 56.
With your draw length - bet it would still be a sweet bow, but my guess is you'd be aware of the string angle.
VERY pleased with mine. Feels smoother to me at 45# than my wife's 62" r/d @ 44#, which is a very, very fine slightly milder r/d by one of the top sponsors here.

Jim is working on retiring.  He will still be making bows for Lost Nation Archery for a few months but it appears he is not taking other orders.  I also have two RH bows and a LH in stock.

We started carrying Thunderstick bows last October after talking with Jim for about 10 years.  I listed them in my 2015 catalog.  About a month ago he called and said that due to recent changes we was retiring but he would continue to accept orders from my until I published my 2016 catalog.  The web site coming down is not really a surprise but I wasn't told it would happen.

As far as pulling a 56" Mag to 29", I think you are pushing it just a bit.  I would lean towards the 58".  Somebody just posted on another site that they have a 58" which they draw to 29" and they love it.

Larry, thanks for that info. I'm sure glad I picked up my used T-Mag a couple of months ago. I'll be taking good care of it!

I had a 56" mag and drew it to 28". It was plenty smooth.
The guy I sold it to had a 29" draw and he said he loved it. No complaints with his draw.
I think if you like shorter bows you will be fine..
