shooting glove...leather or felt?
« on: October 13, 2015, 12:51:00 PM »
I have been tinkering with two different gloves. one is leather and the other has felt finger tips. overall I shoot the felt better than the leather most days. seems like the leather may be getting the groove in the fingers. what material works best for you?

Leather for me. I use Byron Fergusons glove. It has double leather on the tips. Very well made.

X3 American Leathers Cross Over in Kangaroo leather. I am really impressed with mine. It provides enough protection but I can still "feel" the string. It has not stretched either. Had it for sometime now.worth the money, gave away my others.

I will throw out another vote for American Leathers. I am actually a tab shooter but I have shot my shooting partners "Big Shot" glove and I have no trouble with the transaction from tab to his glove. Now, what I really like is the tough Nylon on the finger tips that allow for exact and repeatable finger placement on the string. Good luck in your search.  :)

no. the basic difference is that the big shot has the nylon fingertips on the outside. on the crossover, the nylon is on the inside, and the leather is outside. check out their website. worth every penny.

Well, since this has turned into a BigShot appreciation thread I'll add my 2 cents.

Great glove. I started with the elk leather. Graduated to the Buffalo hide... wise decision.

When the Crossover became available I bought one with hesitation. Turned out I loved it more than the regular BigShot.

Finally I tried the Kangaroo Crossover after talking to John. Wow!! Awesome glove. It's what I'll always shoot.

I've since gone to a tab, but shot gloves for many years.  My favorite among the many I tried was the Bateman G9 with the cordovan tips and lace-up stalls.  Wore like iron, and could tighten up the stalls...great glove for a deep hook shooter.  If I go back to a glove, this'll be it.

Daryl I tried the American Leathers you gave me when i bought the bow, but it is too small. I mean I can shoot with it, but sometimes the string slips out of my hand.!

American Leather " cross over " is the best I've found.

I just don't think I like the hard thickness of the fingers on those gloves...I have been shooting a Damascus. Are all the Amer. Leathers built like that?
