Southeastern PA Trad Shooters/Hunters?
« on: November 05, 2015, 10:23:00 AM »
Any fellow TradGangers shooting/hunting near West Chester?  I'm still newish to the area and struggling to find other trad archers/hunters (not to mention places to shoot/hunt).  I'd love to meet up for a small game hunt at one of the area SGL's, or do some stumping, or even some bow building.  Cheers!

I live an hour and a half west of you. I'd be willing to drive for some stumping/small game.

Hey Evan,

I live about 10 minutes from Longwood Gardens so we are real close.  I'm heading to KS next week, so it will be tough catching up.  Feel free to email or private message me and we'll catch up when I get back.

Tim

Its gonna be tough to find public land that isn't crowded. I'm from Lancaster county originally.  I know a good section of game land near Mt. Gretna that gets overlooked. It's thick and nasty but all the deer run for it as soon as people hit the woods.

I could'nt agree more Gary. Check out Shaws for sure. I'm close to Pottstown and have shot with Yewbender and his friends a few times. Never had a better time.

Not a whole lot of Trad here but there are a few of us. Your first response, Tim, is a super guy and closest to you. I am closer to Phila. but will gladly jump in. Leon Stewart, the bowyer, is in Coatesville which isn't far at all. Big Ed and Ron Vought both are out that way. West Caln holds a good trad shoot that Leon organizes.

not sure if anyone will see this but I'm headed to New Cumberland to visit relatives  right after Christmas and looking to do a  little bowhunting while I'm there... nothing really picked out so any of the surrounding areas, I have a doe tag and also a doe tag for DMU2 so maybe try one of the SGL's with bow hopefully somewhere the gun hunters don't bother.. curious if anyone is around, I'm new down there and its good to know at least one person out in the woods.

Used to live in Chester Co. about 20 years ago. It was hard finding places to hunt then and I'm sure it's worse now. When I found a spot though, it was usually a gold mine. Some of the best archery hunting I've ever experienced, pretty much all private land though.
There's a bunch of us about 2 hours north west of you: Monkeyball, Jackdaw, and myself along with several others who are not members here. We shoot with Gary(yewbender) a couple times a year. There will be a couple of Trad shoots that we are involved with in the coming year: North Montour Sportsman's Club in April, MidPenn Sportsman's Club in June, and Shade Mt. Bowmen in Sept. Welcome, and feel free to PM.
We are all here because we are not all there.

can always hook up with the Trad Bowhunters of Maryland...they have a lot of shoots and hunts that would be good to visit a couple times a year....some of the members are from WV, VA, DE, and PA.
