« on: November 06, 2015, 06:43:00 PM »
Been thinking about getting one of these for sharpening single and double bevel heads. Any advice?

Stop thinking and buy the thing.

Jump on it! I'll be buying one myself ASAP. Doc Nock sharpened my single bevel Grizzlys on his KME while he was here hunting with me. He got em wicked sharp! Much more than I could do for them with my Lansky.

Get diamond stones wide enough to do a head in a single pass and don't press hard on the diamond stones! KME=sharpening made easy!!!!

As the old goat said... let the stones do the work!

Having said that, get the coarsest diamond stones they have!

I've had my kit some years now...and wore out the old diamond stones on the knife sharpener...also have the one for the broad heads with the roller... got a new diamond that is coarse on one side, super coarse on other.

So now have their bestest diamonds for both the Knife and the BH set ups!

Shag08 commented on doing his Grizzly which are super hard, as are many high end heads... hard steel takes a coarse stone to change bevel degrees... I did some on the Knife and some on the BH version, and he couldn't tell the difference...

You MUST raise a wire edge on the off side before moving on or you'll never get full sharpness!

Either the knife or BH sharpener work swell!  Stones are the key...along with the patented constant angle control on both type sharpeners!

If...(and that is always a big small word) IF I'm using it properly, I find with new heads, to "set" the bevel I want (25* for me) I use the diamnod, but thereafter, touch up is easy with Ron's "Red stones" on the BH Sharpener (roller gizmo) and his standard stones on the knife sharpener.

The aggressive diamond tend to help remove metal quicker to "set" the bevel where many good heads these days are a bit harder then some earlier heads, ergo, tougher to remove metal.

Make sense?

KME all the way! Have the knife and broadhead kit with diamonds. Couldn't ask for a better product or customer service.
