I think the original poster will listen to all of the opinions here.....I am in the camp  of ..let the second deer go till you know what the outcome is with the first..It worked out and I am not going to rain on what ended up great for this bowhunter...but in the future I would teach a young man that if he had shot the second buc with a poor location shot...then you have two wounded deer perhaps...Always take care of the task at hand...even if you have a two deer limit. If the first deer was a slam dunk great shot ...sure take the second deer...just my thoughts too..but congratulations on two fine deer....your freezer will be full !!!!

Congrats on a once in a lifetime hunt! Two great bucks on the same set. Given the opportunity and a 2 buck limit I'd have taken both shots. Awesome hunt!

Congratulations on two awesome Deer!

Those of you that have negative comments can believe whatever makes you happy, but I don't agree with the criticism. First, who are you to say that he wouldn't have taken the time to search for deer #1 if the shot did not bleed him out so quick? He already said he had help...multiple guys looking for multiple deer sounds like a good plan to me, especially if a grid search is used. Second, if you practice, choose good angles and limit your shot distance you will minimize your wounding rate, but let's be honest guys, if we were on a no wounding crusade haven't we chose the wrong equipment? Like I said, you don't have to like what the guy did, but the rationale behind your disapproval seems flawed.

Two fine bucks sir!! I appreciate an honest Guy that admits a less than perfect shot. It happens to us all. Two legal bucks down and both horses. Sweet. As far as shooting the second one I would not have hesitated. We can kill two bucks and 10 does in Ga and I shoot till I`m out of arrows. RC

Awesome Deerz and Story!!

I subscribe to the school you can shoot at as many as you have tags for. I see no flaw in his approach.

Robert pretty much nailed it.  I have a tremendous amount of respect for the game that I pursue, but don't really get the negative comments.  Killing a legal second deer cleanly does not preclude you conducting a proper search for the first poorly hit one.  Was he supposed to wear black for a year before taking another shot or what? He obviously followed through on the effort.

Congratulations on two fine animals.

Wow that's fantastic. Glad all turned out ok on the first one. If I may ask how far did it (1st buck)after the shot.

Two beautiful bucks!!

Animals move, bad shots do happen.  Given it is legal in your state I commend you for gathering composure.

I have what looks like a 1960's era York archery hunting primer which condoned that shot as being a desireable archery kill shot.  I wouldn't intentionally take it, but interesting none the less

Congratulations.  That is a once in a lifetime event.  And I have nothing but respect for a hunter that can position himself in archery range of two trophy bucks in one day.

As for the others, jealousy is so ugly. Oh, and the one without sin please cast the first stone ... but think hard before you do.  It would be a shame to ruin a good case of self-righteousness with a hypocritical accusation.

That was a near perfect dream hunt for sure. Congratulations too you. Because it was legal I see no problem with your decisions. I would love to get two deer in a single hunt.

The only complication I would have been a bit concerned about would have been crossing blood trails. That would have been highly unusual though.

I know me. I would have been so excited (and yes, concerned) with the first shot I would have been out of the tree. Shoot, it took me until about 28 years old before I ever killed a 5-squirrel bag limit because after 3 I was so excited I couldn't stay in the woods!

I have tracked deer for public hunters though that crossed other blood trails. It can get confusing.

Jmatt1957. The first deer went down about 50 yards away.

Congratulations on two beautiful bucks. Glad it turned out well.    :shaka:

Obviously posting on a public place can get you both back slap/high five response as well as critical comments. It's the nature of the beast.
